Kristinehamns konstmuseum is a young museum of modern and contemporary art. The museum is a meeting place for all types of visitors. The museum’s ambition is to spark an interest in art and stimulate self-reflection.

Kristinehamns konstmuseum is situated in Mariebergs Park, an extremely picturesque area on the shores of Lake Vänern. Operations are carried on in an ex central boiler house, which within the scope of a large European project, was renovated and converted into a modern museum building. The building complies with the highest architectonic, functional and safety requirements.

Exhibitions
Exhibitions form the heart of the museum’s operations where a diversified selection of national and international art is presented. The exhibitions present art of traditional character (paintings, sculpture, graphics etc.) as well as newer techniques (installations, video etc.).
The museum also has an art collection which focuses on works created by artists from our own region. Selected parts of the art collection are displayed from time to time.

Guided tours
Groups may book guided tours of all of our exhibitions. For special requirements, the museum will arrange specially designed tours.

Events
In connection with the exhibitions, the museum arranges different types of events, everything from lectures to concerts.

Café
The café is beautifully situated in the southernmost part of the museum overlooking Lake Vänern where both a pleasant lunch and a cup of coffee may be enjoyed. For larger groups or on special occasions, the café will remain open by agreement.

Shop
The museum shop has an exciting assortment for different age groups and at different price levels. There is art literature, designed artefacts, jewellery, art handicrafts along with postcards and a selection of posters for sale. The shop sells catalogues and specially produced literature and products associated with the actual exhibitions.

Children and youths
Konstverkstan, “the Art Studio”, offers the prospect of creative pursuits for both children and adults. Paints and brushes are available as well as a small exhibition of the visitor’s own paintings. Groups are welcomed by the museum’s education advisor by arrangement. Children also have the opportunity of experiencing the museum in the company of Konstdetektiven, the “Art Detective”, which is a sheet of paper with questions and tasks for the children to work out, draw and use their imagination rather than hunting down facts. The museum also arranges children’s parties. You receive a guided tour of a current exhibition, the ”Art Detective”, painting in the Art Studio and something nice to eat. Our host participates during the party.

Conferences
Kristinehamns konstmuseum offers modern conference facilities for smaller groups in a relaxing and inspiring milieu. Conferences can be combined with a tour of a current exhibition along with lunch or refreshments in the café. The premises are equipped with a whiteboard, OH projector, TV/video, film screen, flipchart, writing pads and pens as well as broadband.
